Program Structure

The Jr. Hornets program offers two distinct pathways to meet players where they are in their volleyball development:

Competitive Program (A & B Teams)

Designed for players with experience and a high level of commitment. Offers the most advanced training and competition opportunities.

Developmental Program (C Team)

A great starting point for beginners or those new to organized volleyball. Provides a positive, instructional team environment. See our C Team information on how the C team will work this season.

Team Levels Explained

A Team (Black)

The most competitive team, typically comprised of players with prior club or team experience. Players are expected to understand advanced skills and systems including rotations, setting, and defensive schemes.

B Team (Green)

A step below the A team in terms of competition. Players typically have some foundational skills and experience but are still developing consistency and game knowledge.

C Team (White)

Focuses on introducing beginners to team play and core fundamentals. Ideal for players with minimal experience or those who have participated in basic clinics. If you are new to the sport or seeking to join the C Team, we encourage you to attend the first round of tryouts.

Team Sizes

  • A Team: 10–14 players
  • B Team: 10–14 players
  • C/D Team: No limit

6th Grade and Below No-Cut Policy

We believe in fostering growth at the earliest stages. All rising 2nd – 6th graders who attend tryouts will be placed on a team.

7th & 8th Graders

Due to team size limitations and the competitive nature of the program, cuts may be made at these levels to ensure optimal training and playing time.

Open Participation Policy

Players outside the Roswell High School zoning area may be considered for the program on a case-by-case basis. If you are not zoned for RHS but are interested in participating, please contact Program Director Chad Heath at vbcoachchad@gmail.com to discuss eligibility.
